Chandigarh: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probing the case of alleged castration of 400 followers of Dera Sacha Sauda by its chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim has accused the Haryana government for not helping in the case.
In a statement to Punjab and Haryana High Court, the probe agency said that it failed to get ‘logistical support' from the state government. The agency had asked for the support by writing a letter to the chief secretary on January 8 this year.
It told the court that the state government has not responded to its request. The CBI also submitted its interim report in the court on Thursday.
The state government has now assured the court that it will do the needful in context of the case. The next hearing of the case has been fixed for July 1.
Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim has been accused of castrating 400 followers in the name of arranging their meeting with the real God.
In January, CBI had registered an FIR against Gurmeet Ram Rahim in the alleged case filed against him by a former follower, Hans Raj Chauhan.
The case has now been registered in Delhi and is being investigated by the Delhi Unit of CBI instead of Chandigarh unit.
Chauhan in his petition had alleged that he, alongwith 400 others, was lured by the Baba to get his testicles removed, claiming that by doing so they will be able to meet God directly.
His medical examination also proved that he had indeed been castrated. The Baba is also charged with sexual exploitation of two female followers.
