New Delhi: The cabinet on Tuesday approved the upgrading of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) port road project in Maharashtra with a total outlay of Rs.1,943.37 crore.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the development of the project which will be undertaken by Mumbai JNPT Port Road Company (MJPRCL) which will include six-laning and eight-laning.
The project will be developed on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) basis on a toll model, with a total length of 43.91 km of which 20.95 km will be of six-laning and 22.962 km will be of eight-laning.
"The project will expedite improvement of infrastructure in Maharashtra and also reduce the time and cost of travel for traffic, particularly heavy traffic, going towards JNPT," the CCEA said in a statment.
