    Pakistan law enforcement officials foil terror attack in Lahore, kills 3 terrorists

    Pakistan's law enforcement officials foiled a major terror attack in Lahore on Wednesday, killing three terrorists, officials said. Acting on a tip-off, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab police raided a militants' hideout near the Nankana-Lahore interchange. During the raid, the suspects opened fire on the CTD team.

    Over 15,000 cases lodged under Arms Act in 4.5 years, more than 6K firearms seized: Delhi Police

    The Delhi Police has registered more than 15,000 cases under the Arms Act, seized over 6,000 firearms, more than 21,000 bullets and over 24,000 sharp-edged weapons from January 1, 2020 to August 31 this year, according to official data.
    "In the first half of this year, till August 31, we have registered 2,170 cases under the Arms Act and seized 892 firearms, 2,546 ammunition (bullets) and 2,074 sharp-edged weapons," a senior police officer said on Wednesday.

    Russia's Deputy PM Overchuk arrives in Pakistan on two-day visit

    Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk on Wednesday arrived in Islamabad on a two-day visit during which he will hold talks with Pakistan's top leadership and discuss ways to enhance bilateral ties.
    According to the Foreign Office, a high-level delegation is also accompanying the Deputy Prime Minister during the visit on September 18-19. It said that Overchuk will hold meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

    China announces sanctions on US companies selling arms to self-ruled Taiwan

    China on Wednesday announced sanctions on American companies selling arms to the self-ruled island of Taiwan, which Beijing claims as its own territory and threatens to annex by force.
    Chinese state media made the announcement, citing the Foreign Ministry, but gave no details on the companies involved. Taiwan is awaiting deliveries of F-16 fighter jets, Abrams tanks and a range of missiles from the US.

    Case filed over 'insult' of national flag in MP's Chhatarpur

    Police have registered a case for alleged insult of the national flag in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur district, an official said on Wednesday. The incident occurred at Panya village in Bamnora Kala police station limits, around 100 km from the district headquarters, he said. "Following a complaint about the wrong use of the national flag, a case under provisions of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act has been registered against the unidentified person," Superintendent of Police Agam Jain said. The police are investigating the incident, and the accused will soon be arrested, he said.

    Land for job scam: Delhi court summons former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav

    Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court has issued summons to former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav and other accused in the job for land money laundering case. The court has also sent summons to Akhileshwar Singh as well as his wife Kiran Devi. The court has also said that Tej Pratap Yadav's involvement cannot be ruled out. He was also the director of AK Infosys Limited. He has also been summoned. They have been directed to appear before the court. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a supplementary charge sheet against 11 accused on August 6. Four of them have died.  The Rouse Avenue court has asked them to appear before it on October 7.
