    BJP worker shot at outside Faridabad polling booth on day of voting

    Two bike-borne men allegedly shot at a 30-year-old BJP worker outside a polling booth here on the voting day in Haryana on October 5, leaving him hospitalised with an injury in the waist, police have said. They said the incident happened on Saturday when Rajnish, who has also been associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh for the past 14 years, was sitting near the Nidhi Public School with a table and people were waiting during the polling exercise.

    Hardoi: 2 girls drown in Ganga while immersing puja material

    Two girls drowned in the Ganga river here when they had gone to immerse 'puja' material used during the Navratri festival, police said on Monday. The incident took place on Sunday when Divyanshi (6) and Shivanki (8), residents of Matni in Sandi police station area, went to Rajghat to immerse the 'pujan samagri' (puja material) with other girls, police said.

    2 men accused of sexually harassing 2 schoolgirls in Deoria nabbed after encounter

    Two persons accused of sexually harassing two girls while they were returning from their school last week were arrested on Monday after an encounter which left them injured in their legs, police said. Accused Dheeraj Patel and Ritik, aged between 18-20 years, allegedly fired shots when a police team surrounded them acting on a tip-off, Additional Superintendent of Police Deependra Nath Chowdhury said.

    ADGP Ajithkumar transferred from Law and Order

    The Kerala government on Sunday transferred ADGP M R Ajithkumar, who was under attack from the Opposition Congress and the ruling LDF partner CPI for his meetings with RSS leaders, from the state's law and order duties. Ajithkumar was posted to the Armed Police Battalion, while Intelligence ADGP Manoj Abraham was appointed as the new ADGP in charge of law and order.

    UP: Govt official suspended for entering Vindhyavasini temple wearing shoes

    An assistant development officer (agriculture) in the district was suspended for allegedly entering the Vindhyavasini temple wearing shoes and neglecting his official duties during the Navratri festival. According to an official statement, Prateek Kumar Singh, who was also serving as a Sector Magistrate during the festival, was caught by city MLA Ratnakar Mishra while visiting the temple.
