    Naxalites kill man on suspicion of being police informer in Chhattisgarh

    A 35-year-old man was killed by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on the suspicion of being a police informer, police said on Wednesday. The incident took place on Tuesday night in Putkel village under Basaguda police station limits, a police official here said. After being alerted, a police team was sent to the area in the morning, he said.

    Himachal: Belgian paraglider killed after mid-air collision in Bir-Billing

    A Belgian paraglider was killed after colliding mid-air with another paraglider in Himachal's Kangra district, five days ahead of the Paragliding World Cup 2024 set to take place in Bir-Billing, police said on Wednesday. Feyarets, a free-flying paraglider in his mid-sixties, had come to Bir-Billing for practice, ahead of the World Cup.

    Air India's Delhi-Indore-Mumbai flight receives hoax bomb threat; FIR registered

    A message claiming a bomb had been placed on Air India's flight from Delhi to Mumbai via Indore was posted on a social media platform which later turned out to be a hoax, police said on Wednesday. The Indore police in Madhya Pradesh have registered a case in this connection against an unidentified person, they said. The "threatening message" that a pipe bomb was placed in Air India's flight AI 636 was posted on an X social media account at 5. 08 pm on Tuesday, an Aerodrome police station officer said quoting a complaint by a local official of the airline.

    Rajnath to inaugurate war memorial, Sardar Patel statue in Arunachal

    Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Tawang district in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday to inaugurate the Museum of Valour dedicated to Major Ralengnao Bob Khathing and unveil a statue of Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in the border district. Singh will also celebrate Diwali with soldiers stationed along the India-China border, officials said on Wednesday. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh will also join the event, they said.

    Bollywood star Salman Khan has received another death threat call, demanding ransom. The unknown caller demanded Rs 2 crore this time from the actor. Soon after the news broke, the Mumbai Police came into action instantly and registered a case against an unknown person for sending various WhatsApp messages on the Mumbai Police Traffic Helpline number demanding ransom.

    Karnataka HC grants interim bail to actor Darshan on medical grounds

    The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday granted interim bail to actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who is an accused in Renukaswamy murder case, on medical grounds, to undergo spine surgery.     China successfully launches new crew to join its space station

    China on Wednesday successfully launched its spaceship sending three astronauts, including the country's first female space engineer on a six months’ mission to fine tune its low orbiting space station. The Shenzhou-19 crewed spaceship was launched by a Long March-2F carrier rocket, early Wednesday from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northwest China. About 10 minutes after the launch, the Shenzhou-19 spaceship separated from the rocket and entered its designated orbit.

    South Africa launches scheme to woo tourists from India, China

    South Africa has launched an innovative new scheme to increase tourism, especially from India and China, inviting tour operators from those two countries to join their local counterparts in signing up to the scheme. Two months after Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Leon Schreiber, conceptualised the concept, his Department on Tuesday announced the Trusted Tour Operator Scheme (TTOS), which is aimed at enhancing job creation that flows from increased tourism.

    Judge in case of Trump assassination attempt in Florida declines to recuse herself

    The federal judge presiding over the criminal case of a man charged with trying to assassinate former President Donald Trump declined to recuse herself, saying a defence request that she do so was without merit. Lawyers for Ryan Wesley Routh had urged US District Judge Aileen Cannon to step aside, saying her handling of Trump's classified documents prosecution created at least the appearance of bias in favour of the former president and current Republican nominee. They cited the fact that she was appointed to the bench by Trump and has been repeatedly praised by him for her rulings in the documents case, including her dismissal in July of the prosecution — a decision now being appealed by special counsel Jack Smith.
