Months after announcing his political party Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), top Tamil actor Vijay is likely to spell out his political agenda and vision for the state during his keenly watched maiden public meeting here on Sunday.

Vijay has announced facing the 2026 Assembly polls, spicing up the political battlefield long dominated by the Dravidian rivals DMK and the AIADMK, with a resurgent BJP under K Annamalai making some impressive strides in this year's Lok Sabha polls. The saffron party is keen to put up a good show in the hustings in 2026 as well.

On the seat-sharing feud started by Samajwadi leader Abu Azmi, SP chief Akhilesh Yada said, "The state president of Samajwadi Party (Maharashtra) will decide - first we will try to stay in the alliance. But, if they (Mahavikas Aghadi) will not keep us in the alliance, then we will fight on the seats where we will get the votes or our party is working. There is no place for sacrifice in politics. However, we will contest on such seats which do not dent MVA."

5,400 fake notes of Rs 200 were caught in Bhilwara when 3 people were going to sell them in the market during the festive season. During late-night checking in Bhilwara, fake notes of Rs 200 were recovered from 3 people travelling in an Alto car.

Nine persons were injured in a stampede after rush for boarding a train at Bandra railway station in Mumbai on Sunday morning, a civic official said.

The incident took place at 5.56 am on platform number one at the Bandra Terminus. There was rush for boarding train 22921 Bandra-Gorakhpur Express, the official from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said.

Two cadres of the proscribed outfit People's Liberation Army were arrested in Manipur's Tengnoupal district, police said on Sunday. They were held by a team of Assam Rifles from the vicinity of border pillar number 87 on Saturday and handed over to the police, an official statement said. The two have been identified as N Priyo Singh (21) and S Devjit Singh (21) and handed over to Pallel Police Station, it added.

Two persons were killed while a woman was injured in a road accident here, police said on Sunday. Pipri's Circle Officer Amit Kumar said that a car going from Renukut to Anpara and a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction collided near village Karhiya on Saturday evening.

In an intelligence-led operation, Punjab Police busts a cross-border smuggling racket and apprehends two associates of Foreign-based drug smuggler Navpreet Singh @ Nav Bhullar and recovers 105 Kg Heroin, 31.93 Kg Caffeine Anhydrous, 17 Kg DMR, 5 foreign made Pistols & 1 Desi Katta.
