Four Dussehra revellers were killed and three others injured when the motorcycles in which they were travelling collided with each other in Odisha's Nuapada district in the early hours of Wednesday, a police officer said. The accident took place on the Biju Expressway near Rajpur of the western Odisha district between 1. 30 am and 2 am, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Khariar, Arup Avishek Behera said.

Two persons were killed and four others injured when a truck toppled on people who were walking in a procession for the immersion of the idol of goddess Durga in Jamshedpur in Jharkhand, officials said. The accident happened at the Bodhanwala Ghat in Bistupur police station area on Tuesday evening when the truck was negotiating a slope, they said. Two persons died at the Tata Main Hospital, where four other injured are undergoing treatment, Health Minister Banna Gupta said in a statement after visiting the healthcare facility.

Harish Rawat, former Uttarakhand chief minister and senior Congress leader suffered a chest injury after his car hit a divider on Tuesday night. According to the initial reports, his car met with the accident after colliding with a divider while traveling from Haldwani to Kashipur.

A shopkeeper had a narrow escape after a group of men, including those with whom he had an argument earlier, opened fire at him here, police said on Tuesday. Five people have been arrested in connection with the incident that took place last night in the Kotwali police station area, they said.

Addressing a massive gathering at the Dussehra rally of Shiv Sena in Azad Maidan, Shinde, without naming Thackeray, said he back-stabbed Bal Thackeray by committing dishonesty with his ideological legacy. Shinde also said he won't be surprised if they (Shiv Sena-UBT) ally with Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM and even "hug terrorist organisations such as Hamas, Hizbul Mujahideen, Lashkar-e-Toiba for their selfish motives and chair (power)".

Six people died in Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh district on Tuesday when their car fell into the Kali river near Lakhanpur, police said. Pithoragarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Lokeshwar Singh said the incident took place on the Dharchula-Lipulekh road late in the evening when the victims were returning after a 'darshan' of Adi Kailash. Two of them were from Bengaluru, two from Telangana and two from Uttarakhand, he said.

"Saturday, October 7 is a wake up call for the entire free world. A wake up call against extremism and terror. On that day, over 1,500 terrorists of Hamas and islamic jihad infiltrated Israel from the south with viciousness...killed over 1400 babies, children, women and men and wounded over 4000," said Eli Cohen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel at the UN Security Council on the Israel-Gaza conflict.
