    Haryana-based company booked for multi-crore fraud in Jammu

    The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday registered a case against a Haryana-based private company for an alleged multi-crore fraud, an official said. The case was registered against the Managing director, Director and other promoters of Messrs Future Maker Life Care Private Limited, Hissar, for criminal conspiracy and multi-crore cheating with several people of Jammu on the pretext of doubling their amount, the official said.

    India celebrates Dussehra to mark victory of good over evil

    Dussehra was celebrated across the country on Saturday with revellers coming out in large numbers to witness the burning of Ravana effigies, marking a spectacular culmination of 10-day of festivities filled with rituals, songs, dance and processions. Effigies of the demon king, his brother Kumbhakarna and son Meghnad went up in flames at open grounds with the attending crowds erupting as the firecrackers from the burning effigies illuminated the night sky. Social media platforms were awash with colourful, celebratory posts with people wishing each other health and happiness. President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the festivities at the Red Fort Parade Ground where they were welcomed by the organisers of Sri Dharmik Leela Committee.

    Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said India has never attacked any country out of hatred or contempt but if its interests are threatened, "we will not hesitate to take a big step". On the occasion of Vijayadashami, Singh performed "Shastra Puja" (worship of weapons) at the Sukna military station in West Bengal, and said that the ritual is a "clear indication that if need be, weapons and equipment will be used with full force".     Trichy flight scare: 109 passengers resume journey to Sharjah, others opt to delay travel

    Hours after the Air India Express flight to Sharjah, carrying 144 passengers, landed safely following a technical problem (hydraulic failure) at Trichy airport, officials on Saturday (October 12) revealed that a separate flight had been provided for the stranded passengers, and many of whom have already departed for Sharjah. According to the information released, of the 144 passengers aboard the flight yesterday, only 109 agreed to travel to Sharjah, while the remaining passengers chose not to travel for the time being.
