The health condition of junior doctor Aniket Mahato, who was hospitalised because of deteriorating health due to a fast he began on Sunday, is "critical but stable," RG Kar hospital sources said. Aniket has started responding to treatment, a member of the five-doctor team monitoring him in the critical care unit (CCU) of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital said on Friday. He was admitted to the state-run hospital on Thursday night.

A live cockroach measuring 3 centimetres was successfully removed from the small intestine of a 23-year-old man at a private hospital in Delhi, officials said on Friday. The procedure, which took 10 minutes, was carried out using advanced endoscopic techniques at Fortis Hospital in Vasant Kunj, a hospital spokesperson said.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Friday submitted a memorandum to Delhi University’s vice chancellor (VC) to file a review petition regarding the counting of votes in DUSU elections, a statement said. A delegation of the ABVP submitted the memorandum to the VC on the Delhi High Court's decision to stay the counting of votes in the Delhi University Students' Union elections, demanding to start the pending counting through a special leave petition or other legal options and release the results soon, it said.

The 6, Flagstaff Road bungalow in Civil Lines was formally allotted to Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Friday, two days after she was allegedly forcibly made to vacate it, officials said. An offer letter issued by the public works department (PWD) said the bungalow in Civil Lines has been formally allotted to Atishi, after completing the due process of handover and preparation of inventory. The bungalow was at the centre of an intense tussle involving the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the LG office since former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal vacated it earlier this month.

The Delhi Transport Department on Friday launched a fresh round of crackdown on overage vehicles, an exercise that will continue till December to combat air pollution in the national capital, officials said on Friday. The department has asked traffic police to deploy four teams in every municipal zone in coordination with its enforcement wing to impound diesel and petrol-run vehicles that are 10 and 15 years old, respectively.
