A massive fire erupted in the Mankhurd area of Mumbai on Friday afternoon. As per initial reports, at least 19 fire tenders have been rushed to the fire site. The administration has declared it a level-3 fire.
The blaze erupted in the scrap yard. The area is densely populated due to the presence of slums. Efforts to douse the flames are underway.
According to information, Chemical was kept in small drums in the scrap godown. The fire spread due to a chemical fire. The flames have definitely reduced but the fire has not been controlled yet.
Reports also say that one person has been injured — Harish Nadkar (Station Officer), 40-year-old, in the fire incident. However, his condition is stable. The blazes were first reported at Mankhurd-Mandala, Scrap Yard, Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road near Aannabhau Sathe Nagar, Mankhurd.
