    Gurugram: 3-year-old molested at playschool, SIT formed to probe case

    A three-year-old girl was allegedly molested at a well-known private playschool and police has registered a case in the matter, officials said on Wednesday. Gurugram Police Commissioner Vikas Kumar Arora has formed an SIT to investigate the matter, they said. Family members of the girl held demonstrations outside the playschool, demanding the arrest of the accused. The playschool has so far not given a statement on the matter. Despite several attempts, the school principal could not be contacted.

    Assam: 4 rhino poachers arrested

    Four suspected rhino poachers were arrested along with arms and ammunition in Assam's Darrang district, a senior official said. In a post on X, DGP G P Singh said the four were planning to kill a rhino at Orang National Park when they were nabbed on Tuesday night. One .303 rifle with ammunition, three mobiles, five motorcycles and camping stores were seized from them, he added.

    Donald Trump wins Wyoming

    Former President Donald Trump beat Vice President Kamala Harris in deep-red Wyoming to win the least-populated state's three electoral votes on Tuesday. One of the most Republican states by almost any measure, Wyoming gave Trump his widest margins of victory in any state in the 2020 and 2016 elections. Trump made at least one fundraising visit to Wyoming in 2024 but did not campaign in the state. He focused instead on states less certain to deliver him wins. The Associated Press declared Trump the winner at 9:00 p.m. EST.

    US Election: Initial results coming in from several states; voting continues in some others

    The first results are coming in for the US presidential election with Republican leader Donald Trump projected to notch up wins in Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia and Vice President Kamala Harris winning Vermont. Voting in these states ended hours earlier. Though projections are emerging from many other states, what everyone is eagerly waiting for is possible trends from the seven battleground states which will effectively determine who will become the next American president.

Once a crucial battleground state, Florida has been drifting toward the Republican Party in recent years.     Former President Donald Trump won South Carolina on Tuesday, earning its nine electoral votes for the third straight election. South Carolina has not voted for the Democratic nominee for president since 1976, when Democrat Jimmy Carter -- the governor of the neighbouring state of Georgia -- defeated Republican President Gerald Ford throughout the South. Four years ago, Trump won 55% of the vote, matching his performance from 2016. Given the success Republicans have in the state, presidential candidates rarely spend time campaigning there.     Democrat Kamala Harris faced Republican Donald Trump on Tuesday in the US presidential election. There are 538 Electoral College votes allotted to the 50 states and the District of Columbia. It takes 270 votes to win. The following table shows the projected winner of each state as forecast by media outlets and by data providers Edison Research and Decision Desk HQ, as well as the Electoral College tally based on each group's projections.

    Renowned folk singer and Padma Bhushan recipient Sharda Sinha dies at 72

    Popular folk singer Sharda Sinha, known as 'Bihar Kokila' for her melodious rendition of Chhath and folk songs such as "Kartik Maas Ijoriya", "Suraj Bhaile Bihaan" and Bollywood hits "Taar Bijli" and "Babul", lost her battle with cancer at a hospital here on Tuesday. She was 72. Sinha, who pioneered and popularised the rich folk traditions of Bihar beyond its borders, was undergoing treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)-Delhi for multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer.
