A packet of airgun pellets exploded at the General Post Office in Civil Lines area here on Tuesday evening, causing panic for some time, police said. The explosion took place around 5.30 pm when GPO employees were handling a parcel containing 10 packets of air gun pellets, said a police official.

A 32-year-old man was arrested by the police in Nagpur on Tuesday for allegedly raping his minor daughter repeatedly, officials said. The accused works as a driver, while the victim, aged around 12, is a student of Standard VII, the officials said.

SBI hikes deposit, lending rates
The country's largest lender SBI has raised its deposit and lending rates following the Reserve Bank's repo rate hike last week. SBI said interest rates have been raised by 0.20 per cent on domestic term deposits of below Rs 2 crore for select tenors. The revised interest rates on retail domestic term deposits (below Rs 2 crore) come into effect from June 14, 2022, State Bank of India (SBI) said on its website.

3 missing, swept away in drainage ditch after severe storms in US
A child and two adults were missing after they were swept away in a drainage ditch in Milwaukee following severe thunderstorms that brought heavy rains and damaging winds to a wide swath of the Midwest, authorities said. Witnesses told police the 11-year-old boy fell about 6:30 pm Monday into the ditch, which carries water through a tunnel to the Kinnickinnic River. According to police, two men, ages 34 and 37, entered the water in an attempt to rescue the boy and all three were swept away.

New flights to Abu Dhabi and Damman from Thiruvananthapuram
Indian low-cost airline Indigo will commence new international services from the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport here to Abu Dhabi in the UAE and Dammam in Saudi Arabia from June 15 and July 1 onwards, respectively. The new services are being launched in view of the long-standing demand of travellers to launch more services to the Gulf countries, a release issued by the airport on Tuesday said.

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday extended till July 7 the interim protection from arrest granted to BJP leader Kirit Somaiya and his son in a case of alleged misappropriation of public funds collected for the restoration of decommissioned naval aircraft carrier Vikrant.
