    Four arrested for kidnapping, assaulting man in Gurugram

    Four persons were arrested here for kidnapping and assaulting a man over personal enmity, police said on Monday. According to the police, the incident happened in Farukhnagar police station area on Saturday around 8 pm when four persons kidnapped a warehouse caretaker named Jeevanlal.

    One arrested in Greater Noida for illegal occupation of custodian property

    A 50-year-old man was arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida on Monday for allegedly occupying custodian property allotted to a partition refugee using forged documents, police officials said. The custodian property, also called as enemy property, is located in Jarcha village of Greater Noida and is estimated to be worth crores of rupees, according to officials.

    Authorities were left in a dilemma after a dead man won the sarpanch polls in a village in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar district.
    Ravindra Thakur, one of the candidates for the sarpanch post in Kajera village in Deori tehsil, had died of a cardiac arrest on June 22, but his name continued to be on the ballot paper for the July 1 poll as the information was not relayed to authorities, an official said.

    Mumbai reports 43 pc drop in coronavirus cases at 431; two die, active tally at 7,040

    Mumbai on Monday logged 431 new coronavirus cases, 43.36 per cent less than the previous day, and two more deaths linked to the infection, the city civic body said.     Govt directs steel industry to draw time-bound action plan to lower CO2 emissions

    In line with the government's COP26 commitments, the Ministry of Steel has asked the stakeholders to develop a time-bound action plan to lower emissions in the steel industry. According to a ministry document, the iron and steel industry globally accounts for around 8 per cent of total carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions on an annual basis, whereas in India, it contributes 12 per cent to the total CO2 emissions.
