Four Kashmiris have been detained, they claim that they are from Poonch district and that they were here to collect funds for a Madarsa. They are being interrogated. Intelligence agencies are investigating the matter further as to what was their purpose.

A case was registered at Marine Drive police station on October 15 wherein the Chief Minister's Secretariat received a letter in which the person had given death threat to the CM. An investigation is underway in the case.

One person has been detained in connection with Kamlesh Tiwari Murder Case, from Nagpur. The person is being interrogated.

Forest Department officials and animal rights activist rescued an injured owl, in Kuniamuthur city. The owl was later released into Madukkarai forest.

At least four persons were killed and another seriously injured early on Saturday when two trucks collided head-on in Assam's Kamrup district. Six persons have been booked in Uttar Pradesh's Chitrakoot district for allegedly raping a 23-year-old woman, police said on Saturday.

Station Hose Officer (SHO), Karwi, Anil Kumar Singh said the case was registered on Friday.

The woman was raped around two weeks ago. Four men took the woman to an unknown place on the pretext of dropping her from her college to village. She was gang-raped for two days, the SHO said.

A 45-year-old truck driver was killed in an explosion on Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway near Kolhapur late on Friday, the police said on Saturday.

At around 11.30 pm, Dattatray Patil had stopped on the road after his truck broke down on the highway, a senior police official from Kolhapur police said.

An Indian-origin man has been sentenced to nine additional months in prison for failing to self-surrender to serve his prison sentence.

According to court documents, in September last year, Damanpreet Singh, 34, of Los Angeles was sentenced to two years in prison for conspiring to commit bribery, identity fraud and unauthorised access of a computer. He was ordered to self-surrender to begin serving his prison sentence in January this year.

A senior member of the Meerut Bar Association was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Meerut on Friday night, police said.

The assailants fled after the incident, the police said, adding that the victim, Mukesh Sharma, was rushed to the Anand Hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead.

No interviews will be conducted henceforth for recruitment into government departments in Andhra Pradesh as Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed the officials to conduct only the written examinations.

He has directed the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) to do away with the existing system of conducting interviews for the recruitment. He asked it to conduct only the written examination to ensure transparency in the recruitment process.

The Centre on Friday told the Supreme Court it proposed to give the site where the demolished temple stood to the devotees of Guru Ravidas for construction of the temple.

AAP Delhi convener Gopal Rai said that people of Delhi and India took the streets after the demolition of the Temple, and "under the public pressure and protests, the Centre has taken the decision of giving the land for the temple".
