At least four persons were killed and another seriously injured early on Saturday when two trucks collided head-on in Assam's Kamrup district. A sand-laden truck, which was on its way to Guwahati from Mirja in Palasbari police station area of the district, hit the 16-wheeler coming from the opposite direction, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Satyendra Singh Hajowari said.

Woman gang-raped in UP, six booked
Six persons have been booked in Uttar Pradesh's Chitrakoot district for allegedly raping a 23-year-old woman, police said on Saturday.
Station Hose Officer (SHO), Karwi, Anil Kumar Singh said the case was registered on Friday.
The woman was raped around two weeks ago. Four men took the woman to an unknown place on the pretext of dropping her from her college to village. She was gang-raped for two days, the SHO said.

An Indian-origin man has been sentenced to nine additional months in prison for failing to self-surrender to serve his prison sentence.
According to court documents, in September last year, Damanpreet Singh, 34, of Los Angeles was sentenced to two years in prison for conspiring to commit bribery, identity fraud and unauthorised access of a computer. He was ordered to self-surrender to begin serving his prison sentence in January this year.

Lawyer shot dead in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut
A senior member of the Meerut Bar Association was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Meerut on Friday night, police said.

No interviews will be conducted henceforth for recruitment into government departments in Andhra Pradesh as Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed the officials to conduct only the written examinations.

Delhi's ruling Aam Aadmi Party on Friday welcomed the Central government's decision to give land to build the Sant Ravidas Temple.
The Centre on Friday told the Supreme Court it proposed to give the site where the demolished temple stood to the devotees of Guru Ravidas for construction of the temple.
AAP Delhi convener Gopal Rai said that people of Delhi and India took the streets after the demolition of the Temple, and "under the public pressure and protests, the Centre has taken the decision of giving the land for the temple".
