Bihar's COVID-19 tally rose to 2,26,915 as 247 more people tested positive for the infection, while five fresh fatalities pushed the death toll to 1,184, a health department bulletin said on Sunday.

The Delhi University on Sunday deferred spot admission for entrance-based undergraduate courses in view of many university departments and officials being affected by COVID-19.

The university has also deferred till further notice the announcement of special cut-off for undergraduate courses for seats that are still vacant after admissions under five cut-off lists.

 A 12-year-old girl was killed as her hut caught fire in this Uttar Pradesh district, police said on Sunday. According to Narhi Station House Officer (SHO) Gyaneshwar Mishra, the incident took place in Kulharhia village on Saturday night.

Mishra said on Saturday night, when people were celebrating Diwali, the hut of Avadh Bihari Ram suddenly caught fire at around 10 pm and it assumed a huge proportion. A girl, identified as Sonam (12), died due to burns in the incident, the SHO said.

pushed the tally to 15,792, a health department official said on Sunday.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu greeted the people of Jharkhand on the state's formation day on Sunday. He also paid tributes to tribal leader Birsa Munda on his birth anniversary. Jharkhand was carved out of Bihar in 2000 on the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda.
