A team of senior officers of Delhi Police has been constituted for opening up dialogues with the lawyers’ bodies in compliance with Delhi High Court’s direction.  A meeting was held by both the parties today evening in presence of Anil Baijal, Lt Governor of Delhi.

During the discussion it was explained by Police officers that since judicial inquiry is underway, further action should be taken against any alleged persons only on the basis of inquiry. Lt Governor appealed to police and lawyers to continue holding talks to resolve the issues.

Coordination Committee of Delhi District Court released a statement: "Despite our cooperation, no concrete step has been taken to arrest the police who fired at advocates (allegedly at Tis Hazari Court on Nov 2). So there would be complete abstinence from work tomorrow in all Delhi District Courts."

Shiv Sena has been invited by Maharashtra Governor BS Koshyari to form government in Maharashtra. He has given Sena one day to stake claim.

There are indications that Shiv Sena may ask for another day from the Governor.

Former Maharashtra CM Ashok Chavan said that Congress does not want President's Rule in Maharashtra. BJP has made it clear a while ago that it cannot form government in the state.

A student of Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan in her hostel room on Friday, the police said. Police, however, didn't recover any suicide note from her room.

According to the police, "The student, a native of Kerala, was pursuing the integrated MA programme at the institute." 

"This was the first time Fatima was staying away from her family in the hostel. She was very homesick. Also, she recently got low internal marks. So, these might have driven Fatima to commit suicide," a police officer said.

Speaking on the government formation in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that his party welcomes the decision of Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to invite the BJP to form government in the state. “Now, with the Governor’s intervention, we hope the state will get a government,” he said.

“The single largest party had to be called. We fail to understand why the BJP did not stake a claim in 24 hours (after results) if it was confident that it had the majority,” the Rajya Sabha member said.

BJP MP from Garhwal, Tirath Singh Rawat's car met with an accident near Bhimgoda-Pant Deep. He has been admitted to hospital in Haridwar for injuries sustained in the accident. His condition is stable.

All parties have differences on some issues. Our ideologies may be different.. that doesn't mean that we are enemies. Many times we have attacked BJP over some issues, that doesn't mean we are enemies. Everyone has contributed to the state.

Body of a policeman was found hanging from a tree in police lines here, police said on Sunday. The 27-year-old Bhupat was found hanging from a tree on Saturday, Additional Superintendent of Police Balvant Chowdhury said.

Prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide, he said. However, the victim's brother Gaulal said his brother's body had injury marks on the neck and back.

A man has been arrested here for posting "objectionable" messages on the social media after the Supreme Court's Ayodhya judgment, police said on Sunday.

The arrest was made on Saturday evening, Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Pandey said. According to an FIR, the man had made remarks against a particular community after the verdict, the SP said.

The traffic situation will be affected in some parts of the national capital on Sunday due to the Eid-Milad-Un-Nabi procession on the occasion of birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad, said police.

At least three policemen were killed by unknown assailants in two different incidents in northwest Pakistan on Saturday, police said.
