     An empty rake of a local train derailed at Ambernath railway yard in Maharashtra's Thane district adjoining Mumbai on Sunday morning, disrupting train operations on the route, officials said.

    Pakistan's Senate has passed a bill to ensure no parliamentarian is disqualified for a lifetime, a move termed by the Opposition as an attempt to clear the way for former premier Nawaz Sharif’s return to the country and his participation in the upcoming elections.
    Nawaz Sharif, 73, was disqualified in 2017 by a five-member bench of the Supreme Court. In 2018, he became ineligible to hold public office for life after a Supreme Court verdict.

    DELHI weather update: Light rain likely in city

    The minimum temperature in the national capital on Sunday settled at 28.6 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
    The relative humidity at 8.30 am was 69 per cent.
    The weather office has forecast a generally cloudy sky with light rain or thundershowers accompanied with gusty winds.
    The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 38 degrees Celsius.

    Pennsylvania trooper, suspect killed in shootout; 2nd trooper seriously wounded

    A state trooper and a suspect were killed Saturday in a shootout in central Pennsylvania, hours after the suspect seriously wounded another trooper, state police said.
    Police in Juniata County said a man engaged troopers at about 12:45 p.m. near the Lewistown barracks and shot one trooper, who was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

    8 wounded in shooting at Southern California home

     A shooting at a Southern California home left eight people wounded, authorities said Saturday. KABC-TV reported authorities were dispatched shortly after midnight after the shooting occurred at a pool party in the city of Carson, south of Los Angeles.
    Victims were taken to hospitals, and two were listed in critical condition, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a statement.

    Indian-origin man stabbed to death in UK

    A 38-year-old Indian-origin man has been stabbed to death in London, just two days after shocking incidents of knife attacks in the UK which saw the deaths of a British Indian teen and a student from Hyderabad.
    Aravind Sasikumar was found with knife injuries on June 16 after officers were called to a residential property on Southampton Way, Camberwell, the Metropolitan Police said.

    Fresh tremors rock J-K's Doda, Ladakh

    Two mild intensity earthquakes shook the mountainous Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir early Sunday, officials said.
    The Union Territory of Ladakh also recorded a mild tremor late Saturday.
    There was no report of any damage reported from anywhere, the officials said.
    According to the National Centre of Seismology (NCS), a 4.1 magnitude earthquake having a depth of 11 km at a latitude of 32.96 degrees north and a longitude of 75.79 degrees east struck Doda at 3.50 am.

    No life was lost during cyclone, it is a major achievement, says Amit Shah

    Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said it was a major achievement of the Gujarat government that no death took place on account of cyclone Biparjoy even though it packed a wind speed of 140 kmph while making landfall. Electricity will be restored in affected areas by June 20, he said, talking to reporters in Bhuj, the headquarters of the Kutch district which bore the brunt of the cyclone. Power supply has been restored in 1,600 villages and fully restored in Junagadh and Porbandar districts, the Union minister said.
