40-year-old man dies of electrocution while installing handpump in Rajasthan
A 40-year-old man died of electrocution on Monday and three more were injured when they were installing a handpump in a village and a metal pipe came in contact with a power line passing overhead, police said.
They said the incident occurred in Bhindi village under the Keshoraipatan police station in Bundi district. The deceased was identified as Rambabu Meena (40), a resident of Adila village.

MHA will talk to both Meiteis and Kukis at the earliest to bridge ethnic divide in Manipur: Amit Shah
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah chaired a high-level meeting to review the security situation in Manipur, in New Delhi today. He said that the Ministry of Home Affairs will talk to both the groups, Meiteis and Kukis, so as to bridge the ethnic divide, at the earliest. Moreover, he also directed to take strict legal action against those who indulge in violence.
The meeting was attended by the Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande, Union Home Secretary, Director, Intelligence Bureau (IB), Chief of Army Staff (Designate) Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi, Security Advisor to Government of Manipur, Director General of Assam Rifles, Chief Secretary, Director General of Police (DGP) of Manipur and senior officials of Army and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Gujarat: Loco pilot halts goods train instantly after seeing 10 lions on the tracks; earns praise
In a bid to save ten lions, the loco pilot of a goods train applied emergency brakes after spotting them on the tracks near Pipavav Port in Gujarat's Amreli district in the early hours of Monday, a railway official said.
According to Western Railway's Bhavnagar division release, the incident happened when loco pilot Mukesh Kumar Meena was piloting the train from Pipavav Port station to a siding (a short track beside the main corridor).
"Meena stopped the train by applying emergency brakes as soon as he spotted 10 lions resting on the tracks. He waited till the lions got up and moved away from the tracks. He then took the train to its destination. This commendable work by the loco pilot was praised by officials," the release added.

Court sentences man to 12 years imprisonment for raping minor niece
A court here has sentenced a man to 12 years rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping and repeatedly raping his minor niece in 2017, observing how children could be protected when there is a “predator” in the family.
Additional Sessions Judge Susheel Bala Dagar was hearing a case against the man who was convicted of crime under the penal provisions for rape, kidnapping and Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Sikkim: Evacuation of stranded tourists begins from Lachung
The much-delayed evacuation of stranded tourists began by road from Toong in Sikkim's Mangan district on Monday noon, officials said. So far, a total of nine tourists have been evacuated, they said.
The evacuation process is being led by the Mangan District Magistrate Hem Kumar Chettri and officials from Tourism and Civil Aviation and Forest Departments, besides the Travel Agent Association of Sikkim (TAAS). As many as 1,200 tourists, including 15 foreigners have been stranded following a landslide in Lachung for the past few days. At least six people have been reported dead.

Encounter between security forces and militants in Bandipora
An encounter erupted between security forces and militants in the Aragam area of Bandipora district, North Kashmir. Following an exchange of gunfire, the militants fled into the nearby forest. According to sources, two militants are believed to be hiding in the forest. Local police and Indian Army personnel have cordoned off the area and are conducting a search operation.
