    PM Modi to inaugurate Nalanda University campus in Bihar

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Bihar next week to inaugurate the campus of Nalanda University, named after the world-famous ancient seat of learning. Officials of the state government and the central university held a meeting here on Saturday to oversee the preparations for the PM's visit, on June 19. Dignitaries like Governor Rajendra Arlekar and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar are likely to attend the function where the Prime Minister is expected to spend an hour and a half.     A core committee meeting of the West Bengal BJP unit was held on Saturday where the performance of the party in the recent Lok Sabha elections and post-poll "attack" on party workers were discussed, a party leader said. BJP state president and Union minister Sukanta Majumdar, Union minister Shantanu Thakur, party state general secretary Agnimitra Paul and former MP Locket Chatterjee attended the closed door meeting in the presence of two central observers.     8 Naxalites, one STF jawan killed in encounter in Chhattisgarh

    Eight Naxalites and a jawan of the Special Task Force (STF) were killed in an encounter in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district on Saturday, police said.     UP: Driver killed, helper injured in truck collision on highway

    A truck driver was killed and his helper seriously injured in a truck collision on the Puranpur-Assam Highway here, police said on Saturday. The accident took place late on Friday night near Sakaria village on the highway, Station House Officer (SHO) Puranpur police station Sanjeev Kumar Shukla said. Gursevak (48), a resident of Punjab, was killed in the incident, while his helper, Jagdish Singh, sustained serious injures, the police said.
