    NDRF team returns home after search and rescue operation in Nepal

    A 12-member Indian rescue team that was in Nepal to search for passengers and two buses swept away by a landslide into the Trishuli River in Chitwan earlier this month returned home on Sunday. Since last Sunday, the team of the Indian National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) had been collaborating with the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal and the Nepali Army in search and rescue efforts.

    Basement deaths: MCD cracks down on 'illegal' coaching centres in Old Rajendra Nagar

    The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has started action against illegal coaching centres and will set up a high-level committee to probe the flooding of a basement in central Delhi which led to three civil service aspirants' deaths, an official said on Sunday.

    A team of the civic body reached the Old Rajendra Nagar area Sunday to seal several illegally-run basements of coaching centres, a statement by the Delhi government said.

    Chhattisgarh: Body of SECL official missing since Sat evening found in water-filled mine sump

    The body of a South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) official who was swept away after rain water flooded a portion of a mine in Chhattisgarh's Korba district was found on Sunday post a 16-hour search, police said. SECL assistant manager (mining) Jitendra Nagarkar (41) had gone missing at around 4:30 pm on Saturday at the Kusmunda coal mine, an official said.

    Armstrong murder: Three more arrested

    Three more persons have been arrested in connection with BSP leader K Armstrong's killing, police said on Sunday. The arrested were identified as 21-year-old N Vijayakumar, V Mukilan (32) and N Vignesh, aged 27 years, police said.     Delhi mayor calls for action against coaching centres being run from basements

    A day after three civil services aspirants died due to rain-induced flooding in the basement of a coaching centre, Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi on Sunday directed that take strict action be taken against commercial activities being run in basements. Oberoi directed the MCD commissioner to take strict action against all such coaching centres across Delhi which are under the jurisdiction of MCD and running commercial activities in basements, which she said are in violation of building bye-laws and are not as per norms. She also called for an inquiry to identify if any MCD officers were responsible in the incident.

    Man held for repeatedly raping woman in Thane

    A 28-year-old man was arrested from Jogeshwari in Mumbai for allegedly raping a woman repeatedly and also forcing her to abort a pregnancy, a Thane police official said on Sunday. Riyasat Illias Qureshi befriended the 24-year-old victim and raped her several times between February 2022 and January this year on the promise of marriage, the Rabodi police station official said. "She filed a complaint after the accused, who is a tailor, refused to marry her," he said.

    Three civil services aspirants have died after the basement of a building housing a coaching centre was flooded following heavy rainfall in central Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar area. According to the Delhi Fire Department (DFS), a call about waterlogging was received from Rau's IAS Study Circle at around 7:00 pm on Saturday (July 27) about the basement of the coaching institute being flooded.
