The Sudarshan S-400 air defence missile system got a major success in an exercise in which it 'shot down' 80 per cent of the 'enemy' fighter aircraft package while forcing others to retreat, aborting their missions. The exercise was carried out by the Indian Air Force in a theatre where the force has deployed one of its squadrons of the long-range air defence missile system, defence sources informed ANI.

The Rajasthan government will provide reservation for Agniveers in the recruitment of jail and forest guards and state police, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has said. The Indian Army on Saturday foiled an attack by Pakistan's Border Action Team (BAT) in Kamakari sector of Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir, in which a Pakistani intruder was killed, military sources said. The BAT generally comprises special forces personnel of the Pakistan Army and terrorists.

Police in Maharashtra's Navi Mumbai are on the lookout for an autorickshaw driver for allegedly sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy in his vehicle when the minor was returning home, an official said on Saturday. The incident occurred on July 23, he said.

Two brothers in their forties were trampled to death by a wild elephant in Chhattisgarh's Jashpur district in the wee hours of Saturday, officials said. The incident took place at around 3 am in Kersai village under Tapkara forest range when the victims identified as Kokde (45) and Padva (43) were sleeping in their mud house, a forest official said.

A school student was killed and 14 were injured when their pickup van rammed into a truck parked in the Phephana area of this Uttar Pradesh district on Saturday morning, an official said. The victims, aged between 12 and 17 years, were from a private school, Ballia District Magistrate (DM) Praveen Kumar told PTI.

One out of the five soldiers has succumbed to his injuries, they added.
