    Five charred to death as fire breaks out in house in Delhi

    Five people were charred to death and two were injured when a fire broke out in a multi-storey building in northwest Delhi's Pitampura area on Thursday evening, officials said.
    The cause of the fire, which broke out on the first floor of the building, is yet to be ascertained, they said.

    External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday held a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Egypt, the Maldives, Angola and Belarus during which he discussed with them issues of mutual interests and expanding cooperation in the multilateral fora.
    Jaishankar, who arrived in the Ugandan capital city of Kampala to represent India at the two-day summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) beginning Friday, held a "frank conversation" with his Maldivian counterpart Moosa Zameer on bilateral ties.

    Amid strained relations between India and Maldives, foreign ministers of both nations met in Uganda's Kampala on Thursday. Taking to social media, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, said he had a meeting with his Maldives counterpart Moosa Zameer on the sidelines of the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). Jaishankar asserted he held a "frank" discussion with Zameerbesides discussing the issues related to NAM.

    Citing medical reasons, expelled Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra on Thursday urged the Delhi High Court to restrain the authorities from evicting her from the government bungalow on cancellation of allotment following her expulsion.

    The Trinamool Congress leader, who has challenged a notice by the Directorate of Estates (DoE) to vacate the government accommodation, pleaded not to throw her out of the premises for the time being as she is a single woman and is undergoing treatment at a hospital here.

    Govt clears 11 project proposals related to technical textiles

    The government on Thursday approved 11 project proposals related to technical textiles worth nearly Rs 103 crore. The Union Minister for Textiles, Commerce and Industry and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Piyush Goyal, cleared the proposals while chairing the 8th Meeting of the Mission Steering Group (MSG) of the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM).

     India will need 2,840 new aircraft and 41,000 pilots as well as 47,000 technical staff in the next 20 years, Rémi Maillard, President and Managing Director of Airbus India and South Asia said on Thursday.
    Addressing a press conference on the sidelines of the aviation conclave and exhibition, Wings India 2024, Maillard said Airbus will double its sourcing from India to USD 1.5 billion by the end of the decade from the existing USD 750 million.

    A Delhi court on Thursday dismissed the bail application of Neelam Azad, an accused in the Parliament security breach case. Additional Sessions Judge Hardeep Kaur denied bail to Azad, saying it would not be right to grant her the relief at this stage. The court had on Saturday sent all the accused in the case, including Azad, Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Lalit Jha, Amol Shinde and Mahesh Kumawat, to judicial custody after they were produced before it on expiry of their police remand.
