    Parliamentary panel asks govt to thoroughly examine implications of National Exit Test

    A parliamentary committee has recommended to the Union Health Ministry to thoroughly examine the implications of the National Exit Test (NExT), which will serve as a common qualifying final-year MBBS exam, a licentiate exam to practise modern medicine and for merit-based admission to postgraduate courses. The panel also advocated for due diligence in addressing the concerns of all relevant stakeholders.

    Madhup Kumar Tiwari appointed new DGP of Chandigarh

    Senior ISP officer Madhup Kumar Tiwari was on Friday appointed as Director General of Chandigarh Police, replacing Praveer Ranjan who has been appointed as Additional Director General of Central Industrial Security Force. In an order, the Union Home Ministry also appointed another senior IPS officer Surendra Singh Yadav as the new DGP for Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police replacing Devesh Chandra Srivastava, who has returned to the Delhi Police.

    Rise in HIV infections in Assam due to injecting of drugs: Minister

    Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said that the state has registered an increase in the number of HIV-AIDS cases, with injection of drugs being the main cause. He affirmed in the assembly that the government, with help from NGOs, has been working with HIV-positive persons.
    However, the details were not disclosed to maintain the anonymity of the patients.
