    UP: FIR lodged for 'green flag' on Pratapgarh's Ghantaghar

    An FIR was lodged against unknown persons for putting up a "green flag" atop the Ghantaghar here on Saturday, police said on Saturday. Additional Superintendent of Police (East) Durgesh Kumar Singh said the "green flag" was hung on the clock tower in the city square with the intention of hurting the religious sentiments of people of a particular religion. Police have taken down the flag and registered an FIR against unknown persons under relevant sections and have started investigating the matter.

    PM Modi copying Karnataka's guarantee schemes, says Dy CM Shivakumar

    Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Saturday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was copying the state's 'Gruha Jyoti' scheme by giving 300 units of free power through the solar grid. The 'Gruha Jyoti' scheme is among the five guarantees offering 200 units of free power to the residential electricity connections. Speaking at the Congress Manifesto Committee meeting, Shivakumar said the BJP which was criticising the Congress government's five guarantees has now launched 'Modi Guarantee' campaign.

    UP Assembly adjourned sine die

    The proceedings of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly were adjourned sine die on Saturday, two days ahead of the schedule, with the House approving the proposed income-expenditure (budget) for the financial year 2024-2025. Uttar Pradesh Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna placed the Uttar Pradesh Appropriation Bill, 2024 before the House to pass the proposed budget for 2024-2025. Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana announced the passage of the bill with a majority of members favouring it.
    Finance Minister Khanna had presented a budget of Rs 7,36,437 crore in the Assembly on February 5.
