    TMC MLA skips appearing before ED in school recruitment scam

    Trinamool Congress MLA from Murshidabad Jiban Krishna Saha on Monday skipped appearing before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sleuths for questioning in connection with their ongoing investigation of the alleged irregularities in the school recruitment, an official said.     Body of Pakistani intruder repatriated along IB in Jammu

    Body of an intruder, who was recently shot dead by the BSF while attempting to illegally sneak into India, was repatriated to Pakistan along the International Border on Monday, officials said. The unarmed intruder was gunned down after he ignored repeated warnings and attempted to cross the border fence through the Khora border outpost in the Samba district on the night of July 31. The deceased was identified as Pakistani national Muhammad Affial, a resident of the Punjab province, the officials said. The body was returned to Pakistani Rangers by the BSF at border outpost Octroi in the Suchetgarh sector of the Jammu district, the officials said.

    Rajasthan Assembly racked by chaos over lawyers' appointment under IPC

    The Rajasthan Assembly was adjourned on Monday amid chaos over the appointment of public prosecutors under sections of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) instead of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).     Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Monday said how many people will benefit from caste-based reservation in government jobs when more employment opportunities are being created in the private sector.     Goods train derails in Rajasthan's Beawar, no casualty

    The engine and wagon of a goods train derailed in Beawar district of Rajasthan on Monday, officials said. In charge of Sendra police station Jagdish Prasad said the engine and wagon of the loaded goods train going to Palanpur from Ajmer got derailed after some stones fell on the track from a hill due to rainfall. "The track has also been damaged. Railway officials reached the spot and work to restore the track was started," he said, adding that there was no injury to the train driver or guard.

    PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and several other regional party leaders on Monday claimed that they have been placed under house arrest on the fifth anniversary of the reading down of Article 370 of the Constitution that provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir.     Bihar: 8 Kanwariyas die due to electrocution in Hajipur

    In a tragic incident, eight Kanwariyas died of electrocution after their DJ-mounted trolley came in contact with the electric wire in Bihar's Hajipur. Several others were reported injured.
