    Delhi: BJP poll body concludes CEC meeting ahead of Jammu-Kashmir Assembly Elections 2024

    The BJP's Central Election Committee (CEC) met in the national capital today (August 25) to finalise the party's candidates for the upcoming assembly polls. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president JP Nadda were joined by other CEC members, including Home Minister Amit Shah, as they deliberated with party leaders from Jammu and Kashmir.

    Third day of UP Police exam amidst tight security

    The Uttar Pradesh Police recruitment exam is took place at 1,174 centers in 67 districts of the state for the third consecutive day on Sunday.

    Pakistan: 11 killed as bus carrying 70 pilgrims from Iran falls into ravine in Balochistan

    Two separate bus accidents hours apart in Pakistan on Sunday left at least 35 people dead and dozens more injured, officials said.  The first happened when a bus carrying Shiite Muslim pilgrims returning from Iraq through Iran fell from a highway into a ravine in southwest Pakistan, killing at least 12 people and injuring 32 others, police and officials said.

    Delhi: 10-year-old student takes pistol to school in bag in Najafgarh

    The Delhi Police said that a pistol has been recovered from a ten-year-old boy in Delhi's Najafgarh area. The boy had gone to school with the pistol in his bag yesterday, after which the school administration informed the police about the matter.     Two held in Kerala for death of infant after circumcision

    Two people from Kanjar near here have been arrested for allegedly causing the death of a newborn child after a circumcision procedure earlier this year. The accused were arrested on August 22, police said on Sunday. Both were, however, granted bail by a court here on Saturday.

    GST Council meet: TMC's O'Brien urges Sitharaman to withdraw 18 pc GST on insurance premiums

    TMC leader Derek O'Brien has urged Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to "urgently review" and withdraw the 18 per cent GST on health and life insurance premiums during the upcoming GST Council meeting.

    O'Brien, in a letter dated August 24, demanded that the GST on health and life insurance premiums be withdrawn at the 54th meeting of the GST Council. "The 18 per cent Goods and Services Tax (GST) on health and life insurance premiums is a burden on 45 crore Indians comprising the middle-class," said O'Brien, the Trinamool Congress' (TMC) leader in the Rajya Sabha.

    IMD issues heavy rainfall warning for Odisha over next three days

    The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an alert on Sunday, predicting heavy rainfall in Odisha over the next three days due to a trough extending from South Uttar Pradesh to the Bay of Bengal.

    "A trough extending from South Uttar Pradesh to the Bay of Bengal at 1.5 km above sea level is likely to cause heavy rainfall in our state, with some areas potentially experiencing very heavy rainfall," Bhubaneswar IMD Director Manorama Mohanty said.
