Fire broke out at 9, Lok Kalyan Marg near Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence on Monday evening. A number of fire tenders were rushed to the site of the fire. In a tweet posted by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), it was made clear that the incident did not take place in PM's residential or office area but in the SPG reception area of the Lok Kalyan Marg complex. An ambulance was also called in at the site after a call was made at 7.25 pm.
It was a minor fire, which was later doused. The fire occurred due to a short circuit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence or office was not affected in the fire.
The Special protection Group (SPG) is mandated to guard the prime minister. The Prime Minister resides at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. His residential complex also has an office of the SPG where the fire broke out.
