In a major breakthrough, three terrorists belonging to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria or ISIS were arrested in Delhi on Thursday. The three terrorists were planning to carry out major terror attacks in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi-NCR.
"They were highly radicalised. Two of them were accused in the killing of a Hindu leader Suresh Kumar. One of them was accused of attempting to murder a Hindu leader in Tamil Nadu," the special cell said today.
"One foreign-based handler was handling them via a social media application. They went to Nepal and were searching for opportunities, waiting for instructions to carry out terror attacks in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi-NCR," the official added.
The terrorists have been identified as Abdul Samad, Syed Nawaz and Khwaza Moinuddin.
Khwaza Moinuddin had been earlier arrested in ISIS-related cases. He was a member of module of the ISIS in Tamil Nadu.
