New Delhi, July 31: A delegation of Bodo leaders on Wednesday met Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde and urged him to take steps for the creation of a new state by bifurcating Assam.
Bodo leaders gave a memorandum to the home minister which said that the Bodoland Territorial Council was created in 2003 and they were informed at that time that there was no policy to create a new state.
Bodoland People's Front chief Hagrama Mohilary said that if Bodoland was not given statehood on the lines of Telangana, they would start a mass agitation.
The executive council of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) - being run by the Bodoland People's Front - has decided to adopt a resolution to demand the creation of a separate state.
All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) has also threatened to launch a mass movement for Bodoland.
