New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Mumbai North-East, Kirit Somaiya, has been booked for allegedly assaulting a Mumbai cop, reports said on Monday.
As per the reports, he indulged in a heated discussion with a police inspector at the Navghar Police Station last week while demanding release of an aide.
Vinaykumar Rathod, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone Vll), said that a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 332, 353 and 506 has been registered against the Somaiya for assaulting an inspector on duty.
Inspector SR Munde has been appointed the investigating officer in the case.
Somaiya was called to the police station for an inquiry when he committed the offence.
