Lucknow, June 7: Former UP chief minister Kalyan Singh today said BJP had no moral right to talk about corruption.
“There is only a difference of degree between the BJP and the Congress on corruption,” he said. The dance by BJP leaders during their “satyagraha” at Rajghat gave the impression that the party was “celebrating corruption”, the Jan Kranti Party head said.
Kalyan Singh said the re-induction of Uma Bharti into the BJP would not make any difference to electoral fortunes of the party in the upcoming assembly polls in the state.
“The BJP in Uttar Pradesh is on ventilator and neither the return of Uma Bharti nor of any other face can boost its poll prospects,” Singh said.
A prominent leader of Lodhas (caste) to which Bharti also belongs, the Jan Kranti Party chief said he had not held any talks with her in the recent part.
Nearly six years after she was expelled from the BJP, the firebrand Hindutva leader was re-inducted into the party today.
She was entrusted her with the task of looking after Uttar Pradesh which is going to polls next year. Singh said the BJP state unit's leaders would try to corner and marginalise her.
On Baba Ramdev, he condemned the police crackdown on yoga guru's supporters and asked people to unite to counter corruption.
Singh asked the SP and the BSP to clarify their stand on the issue of corruption saying on the one hand, they were criticising the scam-tainted UPA government and on the other continuing their support to it.
To a question, he said he would never return to the BJP which had “betrayed” him in the past.
Singh said his party would contest all the 403 assembly seats in UP and finalise names of its candidates by July. PTI
