New Delhi: Two birthday balloons filled with hydrogen gas exploded inside a Maruti Esteem car on Begumpur Road in Buddh Vihar, Delhi, on Sunday.
The car owner Prashant alongwith his two friends were carrying birthday items inside the car, when the balloons exploded.
All the three were taken to hospital, where they were discharged after first aid.
The blast blew up the car's roof, broke the doors and smashed the windowpanes.
The steering and gear box were badly damaged.
Nitin Chauhan, a gas expert said, since the car was locked from inside, the hydrogen filled balloons may be reached their maximum level of density, and a single spark could have led to the explosion, ripping off the car roof.
