Patna: With the female cops posted at Women Police Stations in Bihar miffed with non-availability of separate toilets for them, the authorities today asked all SPs to arrange such facilities in next fortnight.  CID (Weaker Section) Additional Director General (ADG) Arvind Pandey today asked all district SPs to construct separate toilets for women at all such police station and file compliance report with photographs within 15-days.

In a strongly-worded letter, a copy of which is available with PTI, the ADG has written that non-existence of ladies toilet in police stations, which have been established to check crime against women, is unfortunate.

It creates an embarrassing situation for the women police personnel working there, more so when the central and state governments have initiated a movement to construct toilets on priority basis for the people, Pandey said.

“There is one women police station in each district of Bihar. We recently got them surveyed and found out that barring a couple of them none have separate toilets for the women police personnel working. As a result, they have to face shameful adverse situation,” Pandey said.

“I have asked the district SSP and SPs to correspond with DM and executive engineers of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) without any delay and get two toilets with proper facilities constructed in the campuses of all women police stations. One will be for the women police personnel, while another will be for the visitors,” Pandey added.  The ADG said he will personally monitor the compliance to his directive and has asked the district police officials to either e-mail or fax “clear” photographs of the constructed toilets to his office. The directive has also been circulated to all senior police officials.
