Patna, Jul 20: In view of the mid-day meal tragedy at Chhapra in which 23 children died, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday night announced postponement of the iftar party he was to host on July 24.
Sources in the Chief Minister's Office said Kumar was so pained over the incident that he decided to put off the iftar party which was to be held at his official residence.
Kumar is confined to his home nursing a fracture in his left toe, the sources said.
Opposition parties were questioning why he he had not gone either to Chhapra or Patna Medical College Hospital where 24 children and a cook, victims of the contaminated midday meal, were being treated.
