Bangalore: People having no civic sense in Bangalore are being forewarned. If the city police catches you urinating or spitting in public, you may be garlanded with plastic flowers, your photo will be taken and posted on social media.
"Be a true Bangalorean" is the name of the campaign against people urinating in public.
The campaign has been started by a local radio station in partnership with Bangalore police. The campaign was launched on December 1, but it took off on Thursday.
The radio station has roped in eight men to spread the word around different neighbourhoods about catching the violators. The team has covered Shanthinagar, Ulsoor, J C Road, Vittal Mallya Road and a few others in the Central Business District so far.
Barely a day after taking off, it has spotted and shamed 50 persons.
The campaign will continue till the first week of January 2014.
Not only those urinating in public, but people who honk needlessly in traffic, park their cars on pavements, tease girls in public, litter pavements or spit in the open, will also be garlanded.
