Mumbai, May 24 : Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray has called for a united opposition to demand roll back of the steepest petrol price hike in recent years.
Writing in his party organ Saamna, Thackeray said, 'this government has hiked petrol prices 16 times in the last three years, and yet I fail to understand why the voters elect the Congress'.
"People should now wake up and bury the Congress. All oppoisition parties should join hands and channelize public anger. It's now time for people to join hands and strike at the Congress", wrote Thackeray.
"This price hike has broken the back of aam aadmi. The official cars of Sonia Gandhi and her ministers may consume petrol with government funds, but the aam aadmi has to buy all things on his own", wrote Thackeray.
"Shiv Sena and NDA will start a nationwide movement against this hike. Even if they give a call for Bharat Bandh, it will be acceptable to us", writes the Sena supremo.
