Bajrang Dal activists were arrested on Sunday as they protested Valentine's day celebrations in some places of Orissa. At least 28 Bajrang Dal workers were held under preventive arrest at Indira Gandhi park area of Rourkela while trying to prevent boys and girls from moving together, the police said.
Similar protests were staged in some localities of Sambalpur by the slogan shouting saffron activists who were chased away by the police. Couples exchanged flowers, gifts and visited cinemas and popular hangouts like parks, restaurants and shopping malls amid tight security, the police said.
In the state capital here, special Valentine's Day accessories flooded the gift shops and eating joints made special arrangements. Florists and gift shops made a brisk business as youngsters queued up to buy gifts for their loved ones, sources said. Young couples were seen at malls and parks like Ekamra Kanan and Indira Gandhi park. PTI
