Badaun gangrape revelations: UP DGP says, murders could be related to property dispute, SSP transferred
Lucknow: In controversial remarks, the new Director General of UP Police A L Banerjee today said the rape of one of the two victims has not yet been confirmed, and police suspect that the killings
DGP Banerjee said, the two girls were first murdered by stuffing cloth inside their mouths, strangulated and then hanged from the tree.
He also added that the case has been handed over to CBI.
Banerjee said, if required action may be taken against the then DM of Badaun for laxity.
The DGP said, the two murders appeared to have motives other than gangrape. “It could be a property dispute behind their murders and the matter is being investigated. There are discrepancies in the post-mortem report and police forensic report.
“Our investigators found beer bottle caps 70 yards away from the scene of crime, and some blood-stained cottonwool. Phone details show, that the families of the victims had long conversations with other relatives, a day before the crime was committed”, said Banerjee.
