Guwahati-An assistant commandant and three other personnel of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) were on Monday killed by Bodo militants in Chirang district of Assam.
"A patrol party led by assistant commandant Kishore Kunal and sub-inspector Pratap Singh was ambushed near Shikhlai Jahr border outpost of the district.
"Two constables -- Sherpa and Amit Tiwari, the assistant commandant and the sub-inspector were killed in the incident," Director General, SSB, M V Krishna Rao told PTI.
He said two other personnel received injuries in the attack that took place today at about 11.30 am in Chirang district that borders Bhutan's Gelepu district.
The SSB guards the 661-km-long Indo-Bhutan border.
Sources said that the attack was carried out by anti-talks faction of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB).
Senior SSB officials have been sent to the spot. PTI
