New Delhi, Jun 18: The assets and returns of some top police officers in the country, including the chiefs of CBI, CRPF, ITBP and BPRD, are missing from the website of the Union Home Ministry and the column remains blank even after the stipulated deadline of May 31.
While a host of Indian Police Service (IPS) officials like the Director of the Intelligence Bureau, Special Protection Group (SPG), BSF and CISF have submitted their records with the Home Ministry, the column showing the assets for CBI Director A P Singh, CRPF Director General K Vijay Kumar, ITBP chief R K Bhatia and Bureau of Police Research and Development Director General Vikram Srivastava remain blank.
The officials claimed they had submitted their returns. However, the same were not reflected in the newly-started section of the official website.
IB Director Nehchal Sandhu owns a house in Chandigarh which was valued at Rs 5.5 lakh in 1985. He said he has inherited the property from his father.
Border Security Force (BSF) DG Raman Srivastava has a residential building worth more than Rs 3 lakh in Trivandrum. All his immovable properties are largely in the name of his wife Anjali.
Srivastava also has agricultural land and a residencein Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu and he has mentioned that this house has been constructed by his wife “from her own funds, including a personal loan of Rs one lakh taken from her relatives and about Rs 1.5 lakh contributed by him (Srivastava).”
CISF DG Niraj Ranjan Das has a house at Tulsipur village in Cuttack which has been valued to be about Rs 5 lakh and he has rented it at Rs 4,500 per floor. The house is in the name of his wife Sujata.
He also owns a land in his name near Kolkata's Rajarhat area priced at Rs 1.8 lakh.
B V Wanchoo, Director of the SPG, which guards the Prime Minister and his family along with Congress President Sonia Gandhi, has a flat in Sector-22 of Gurgaon with a price tag of Rs 57.46 lakh. The flat is now rented at Rs 40,000 per month.
Wanchoo's wife Nalini also owns a flat in Delhi's Greater Kailash area which was priced at Rs 5.25 lakh in 2004.
This flat too has been put on rent by the couple which fetches them Rs 23,000 per month.
The heads of two Central police organisations—CRPF and BPRD -- on Saturday said they had filed their annual returns pertaining to immovable property well in time, clearing the confusion caused by an official website which had not uploaded their details. Director General of CRPF K Vijay Kumar and head of Bureau of Police Research and Development Vikram Srivastava said they had filed their returns in time and it was not their responsibility if the same was not uploaded on the website of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
The MHA has started a new section of showing Immovable Property Returns (IPR) in its website in which the assets of IPS officers was to be displayed. The officials were asked to submit their IPR by May 31 following which the same would be made public.
While the assets of a host of IPS officials like the Intelligence Bureau Director, Special Protection Group (SPG), BSF and CISF has been uploaded on the website, the column showing assets of some heads of central police forces were blank.
The officials said they had submitted their returns but the same was not reflected in the newly-started section of the official website. PTI
