Guwahati, July 10 : At least three districts in Assam have been inundated while six rivers were flowing above their respective danger-marks, a statement by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said Wednesday.

Although 11 districts have been affected by floods since May this year, waters have receded in many districts, the statement said, adding that at least seven revenue circles in Dhemaji, Lakhimpur and Chirang are reeling under floods at present.

The ASDMA said that Brahmaputra, Burhidehing, Desang, Jia Bharali, Puthimari and Beki rivers are flowing above their respective danger-marks in many places across the state.

Over 33,000 people remained affected by floods in 116 villages and nearly 4,000 hectares of agricultural land was under water in the three districts.

There is apprehension of fresh inundation of villages. No human lives have been lost due to the floods this year, ASDMA officials said.

Flood waters entered Kaziranga and Dibru-Choikhowa national parks.

"Flood waters entered the Kaziranga National Park a few weeks ago. We have taken all precautionary measures to check loss of wildlife during floods. We have alerted the staff to be prepared for emergency situations in case there are high floods inside the park like last year," said N.K. Vasu, director of Kaziranga National Park.
