New Delhi: Chandan, a fourteen year old boy who had become a symbol of indomitable spirit and will power had finally succumbed to his ailment. He came into the limelight after he said that his dream is to become a fighter pilot one day although knowing that he was suffering from cancer which has spread all over his body. The Chief of Air Staff Arup Raha has condole the death of the brave boy
The child breathed his last on February 04 coincidentally which is also marked as World Cancer Day to spread awareness about the disease.
But before the brave heart breathed his last, The Indian Air Force made the dream of the child come true by allowing him to live the life of an Air Force officer for a single day on his birthday, 14 November 14, 2014 at Air Force Station Ambala
In his condolence message, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha said, "Today, we are very saddened to learn that young Chandan, who had been battling cancer for some time, is no more amongst us. It is a sad coincidence that he had to die of cancer on World Cancer Day.
"Chandan was a brave boy and a fighter, in that he was very keen to live his dream of being a fighter pilot, despite probably being aware of his ailment. We were fortunate to have been associated with him and be a part of his dream, albeit for a short time.”
He further said, "In this moment of grief, my heart goes out to the parents of young Chandan. We pray to God to grant them the strength to bear the loss of their young child. Chandan shall continue to live in our memories forever. May his soul rest in peace."
