Mumbai: Areeb Majeed, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) recruit from Mumbai told the National Investigation Agency (NIA) that he and his companions had been detained by the Iraqi army for two days while crossing over to Syria.
He said that he, along with Shaheem Tanki, Fahad Shaikh and Aman Tandel, convinced the army that they were on a pilgrimage to Baghdad and had accidentally landed on the border. The Iraqi officials, after checking their passports, dropped them off at a safe place and gave them directions on how to proceed.
According to sources the NIA will be conducting narco and lie detection tests on him to know further details.
Areeb Majeed was detained by the NIA on Friday when he returned to India.
