Ara: Bihar Police has arrested JD(U) MLA Sunil Pandey in connection with Ara blast case.
Pandey was arrested from the office of Ara SP where he was called for a meeting.
The arrest was made after Sachidanand Sharma alias Lambu Sharma, main accused in the bomb blast at Ara district court in January this year, said that Pandey facilitated his escape from jail and sheltered him subsequently
The special cell of Delhi Police had last month arrested Sharma, who had escaped from police custody after orchestrating a blast at Arrah court premises.
Sharma revealed to the police that his escape from the Arrah court was part of a plot to kill UP's top mafia don turned politician Mukhtar Ansari.
This was Sharma's third escape from custody. He made a similar escape from Arrah court in July 2009 after triggering a blast in which an advocate was killed.
The bomb blast at Ara district court on January 23, 2015, claimed lives of two policemen and wounded 16 people.
