Hyderabad: Two persons were killed and crops in 7,783 hectares were damaged in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh due to cyclone ‘Phailin', according to the official survey.
Sources said horticultural crops like coconut and cashew also sustained damage in 5,140 hectares.
As many as 91,000 people were evacuated before the cyclone struck. Over nine km road stretches were damaged but they have been cleared of debris and fallen trees. 380 houese were damaged completely.
Officials claimed power and water distribution networks had been restored in almost all the villages.
Victims of the cyclone also included around 1,000 migratory open-billed storks who were killed at Telukunchi village in Ichapuram mandal. Around 100 birds were rescued.
