Four staff of Andhra Pradesh Raj Bhavan tested COVID-19 positive on Sunday including a chief security officer, attainder, and one staff nurse. As a precautionary measure, Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan will also be tested for coronavirus. Earlier on Saturday, a special disinfectant drive was launched at Rajbhavan the residence of Governor Harichandan.
Meanwhile, YSRCP MP from Kurnool Dr. Sanjeev Kumar informed that six members of his family tested positive for COVID-19, earlier on Sunday.
As of Sunday morning, a total of 1,097 people were tested positive for COVID-19 in Andhra, while 231 people were discharged and 31 succumbed to the deadly contagious virus. Andhra Pradesh is the eight worst-hit state in India due to coronavirus.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy got tested for COVID-19 on April 17 and his test result came negative. His coronavirus testing was done using a rapid test kit which the Andhra government has procured from South Korea. Around 1 lakh rapid test kits have been received by the state government on Friday to increase the level of coronavirus testing in the state.
Kurnool has the highest number of coronavirus cases as 279 total cases were confirmed in the district out of which 239 are active cases. The district also reported the highest COVID-19 death toll as nine people succumbed to the infection. However, 31 people have been recovered and discharged from the hospital.
