New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister C Damodara Rajanarasimha today met Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh and discussed key issues pertaining to creation of Telangana.
Rajanarasimha, who is from Telangana, said that various issues including Rayala-Telanagana figured in the meeting that lasted for around 15 minutes.
To a question on the demand to merge two districts from Rayalaseema region -Anantapur and Kurnool- with Telangana, he said that discussions were on in this regard.
“That school of thought is there. The discussion is going on,” Rajanarasimha told PTI after the meeting.
The discussions gain significance in the wake of a representation by Rayalaseema Congress leaders with the GoM, which is looking into the bifurcation process of Andhra Pradesh, seeking the merger the two districts in Rayalaseema with Telangana, as per the aspirations of majority of the locals early this week.
According to sources, a senior Congress leader and central minister from Rayalaseema also raised a similar demand with Singh, who is in-charge of party affairs in Andhra Pradesh, two days ago.
