Amritsar, Apr 17: A five-year-old girl was going to school with three of her friends on Tuesday, when four stray dogs pounced upon her and bit her head and neck savagely.
The girl was rescued by a pedestrian and sent to Beas hospital, from where she was referred to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar, where she is presently fighting for her life.
The other three girls fled and saved their lives, said Harjit Singh, the victim's father.
Doctors at GND Hospital said, the girl's head and neck have been badly bitten, and a special team of doctors is working on her. Another team of anti-rabies specialists have been called in, said Dr O P Gupta, medical superintendent.
The incident took place in Chananke village of Tasirka tehsil of Amritsar district.
