The annual Amarnath Yatra will be held for only 15 days this year, News1 reported quoting sources. It said that the pilgrimage will be allowed via Baltal route only.
Earlier the shrine board said that the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine of Amarnath will commence on June 23.
Before that it was announced that the Amarnath Yatra was being canceled due to the coronavirus crisis. In a meeting, presided over by Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu, Chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) observed that there are 77 Red Zones identified in the Kashmir valley from where the Yatra routes pass.
"Due to the pandemic, the establishment of Langars, Medical facility, Camp establishment, Material mobilization, Snow clearance, etc are not possible," the official release read.
