In an apparent attack on his detractors gunning for him, IPL Commisioner Lalit Modi on Sunday said all decisions regarding the league in all its three editions were taken by the Governing Council and approved by the General Body.
Against the backdrop of allegations of financial wrong-doings in the IPL, he also said that IPL is "clean and transparent".
"In the last few days, we have had a lot of innuendoes, and half truths and motivated leaks (about IPL). I want to tell you that all decisions have been taken by the Governing Council and approved by the general body.
"I reassure you that if there is any flouting of rules and any irregularities I shall take full responsibility. On this occasion, I assure milllions of passionate fans of the league and the game across the globe that the IPL is clean and transparent. We should not allow this brand to be diluted and we will not", he said in a speech at the end of the final match even as reports trickled in that he could be suspended by the BCCI any time.
Apparently referring to the raging controversy surrounding the IPL in the wake of allegations of financial wrong-doings, Modi said that it was unfortunate that there was some off-field unfortunate drama only based on innuendoes, half truths and motivated leaks from all types of sources.
He said this season the IPL had faced a lot of obstacles but "not once has the team buckled under pressure".
"The IPL has faced many challenges this season, it has not been an easy journey. However we have met these challenges face on and not once has the team buckled under pressure.
"I would like to thank my incredible team and all led by Sundar Raman and partners for the many thosands of work hours and uunwavering support and professionalism that they have shown," he said.
Quoting from Gita, he said he had always believed that fear not what is not real, never was and never will be, what is real, always was and cannot be destroyed.
"All I wanted is to leave a small footprint in the glorious history of this game", he said. PTI
